Tej Kohli on Shoaib Akhtar's Ban

July 2 2008, 7:17 AM

Pakistan’s temperamental fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar is banned for five years by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) this Tuesday for repeated disciplinary violations.

Board chairman Dr. Nasim Ashraf told a news conference the suspension was imposed on the recommendation of the PCB disciplinary committee and the paceman had the right to lodge an appeal. "He can't play for Pakistan or anywhere in Pakistan. But he can play in the Indian Premier League which is not in our jurisdiction," said Ashraf.

Leg-spinner Danish Kaneria, who like Akhtar criticised board policies when the new central contracts were announced in January, was warned and reprimanded.
Akhtar was dropped from the list of contracts while Kaneria was demoted.

Tuesday's announcement came after the two players appeared before the disciplinary committee in Rawalpindi. "He (Akhtar) was already under a two-year probation period from last year," said Ashraf. "He committed repeated offences of indiscipline from 2004 to 2008, around 15 in total.’’

"We gave him lots of chances in the past but he reached a stage where he had become damaging for himself and Pakistan cricket and a habitual offender. The board has lost confidence in Shoaib Akhtar."

IPL is the next big thing- Tej Kohli

May 13 2008, 2:18 AM

With IPL fever in full swing and the growing popularity of Twenty20 format, One-day and Test cricket are soon to lose its charm. I think T20 is far better than test cricket. This fast-paced action-packed three hour extravaganza not only thrills spectators but saves time also.
Moreover, India’s new found glory IPL has got the whole world watching some best International players exhibiting their cricketing verve on the field.  Against expected, IPL Has taken off really well amid Indian audience. Also, given its commercialization, glamour, glitz and Bollywood connection of course, IPL has acquired an Industry standard that will surely provide livelihood to many like Shoaib Akhtar got his. T-20 cricket is a rollercoaster, as every ball brings goosebumps, at least to me!

By the way which team do you favor in IPL? Well I support Bangalore, not just for Rahul Dravid, but because it really has a strong lineup of batsmen.

Gud Luck to them!

Tej Kohli on cricket

February 27 2008, 12:41 AM

Tej Kohli and Cricket go hand in hand!  Cricket has always been my favourite game. I very much enjoy playing (although I am not great at it) and watching it as well. But I like playing it more. Even now also I manage to play cricket with my brother Navtej at least once in a month in our backyard.

Following the ongoing triangular series being played between India, Australia and Sri Lanka, I came across the ever interesting topic of sledging. Aussie opening batsman Matthew Hayden, has called Indian offspinner Harbhajan Singh an "obnoxious little weed" on Tuesday. According to me Matthew Hayden has lost his mind as first of all Bhajji is anything but little!!!
